Enrollment Periods

Please consult the chart below for the times during the calendar year that you are able to enroll.

Important: If you are enrolled in a MA Plan, PACE Plan, or Medicare Part D Plan, enrollment in Tufts Medicare Preferred will result in disenrollment from your current plan.

Annual Enrollment November 15 - December 31	Open Enrollment January 1 - March 31	Special Enrollment April 1 - November 14
Anyone can join a plan or switch to a different plan (enrollment will take effect January 1.)	Anyone already enrolled in a plan can switch to a different plan with similar drug coverage.	Only those who are new to Medicare or have special circumstances can join during this time.

Important Note:
If you are new to Medicare, you can join anytime up to 3 months before your 65th birthday, the month of your 65th birthday, and 3 months after. If you are new to Medicare but older than 65, you can enroll up to 3 months before electing Part B.

If you have retiree health care coverage through an employer, the enrollment rules are different. Call the employer or their benefits administrator for information.
